Our story began in 2013 when we opened our family-run outdoor activity centre in the heart of the National Forest, near Lount in Leicestershire.
Back then, the site looked very different from the thriving woodland you see today. It needed care, vision and a lot of hard work. With a strong ethos centred around recycling, sustainability and supporting wildlife, we set out to transform the land into somewhere special.
Over the years, we have continued to develop the centre while always trying to improve both the environment around us and the experience we offer our customers.
In 2016, we introduced our first air rifle range with just five lanes. What started as a simple idea quickly became something much bigger. People began travelling from across the UK, bringing their own equipment to spend a few peaceful hours shooting, relaxing and escaping the pressures of everyday life.
As the years went on, the centre grew into a busy outdoor activity venue. We welcomed corporate groups, stag and hen parties, birthday celebrations and families looking for something a little different. Along the way, we were incredibly proud to receive multiple awards and become known as a five-star venue where people could enjoy the outdoors in a safe and friendly environment.
As demand grew, so did we. We introduced more activities, developed the site and continued to expand our air rifle ranges.
Like many businesses, we faced our share of challenges along the way, including economic uncertainty, recessions and the impact of COVID. We adapted, kept moving forward and continued to develop the business.
Then, on 2nd August 2024, everything changed.
What started as a normal working day turned into a life-or-death situation when Clive suffered a cardiac arrest while on site. I (Kelly) immediately began CPR and, thankfully, we had an on-site defibrillator.
The Air Ambulance Service arrived within 10 minutes and Clive's life was saved. After months of recovery and rehabilitation, we continued with the business, but the experience changed everything for us.
In October 2025, following further health challenges within our family, we made the difficult but life-affirming decision to step back. We closed the large-scale activity side of the centre, said goodbye to our incredible team and chose a different path — one that gave us more time to focus on what really matters.
Today, our focus is simple.
We now specialise in air rifle, air pistol, archery range hire for people with there own equipment. We also offer some Have A Go sessions throughout the year for those who would like to try something new with equipment and instruction included.
It's a quieter, more personal experience than the business we ran before, and one that gives us the opportunity to really get to know our customers. While the business may be smaller today, what we've gained is something far more valuable to us, time, balance and a genuine sense of community.
We've met some truly amazing people along the way and built lasting friendships. Although our journey has taken an unexpected turn, we're incredibly grateful for where it has led us.
Life is short. And we've chosen to enjoy it.
